Start with a set you already recognise
Pick a handful of familiar answers rather than an entirely new topic. Look over the words before asking yourself to retrieve them. This makes the next task clear: connect a clue with a word you know, and say that word out loud.
In Mumble Aloud, choose Czech as the answer language. The current public release has an English interface, so menus and instructions are still in English.
Choose a puzzle that gives you the right clue
Number Grid gives you quantities to count and say. Memory Grid asks you to remember pictures and retrieve their names. Sound Source begins with an audio clue. Match Deck asks you to connect a prompt picture and an answer card.
These are different routes to the spoken answer. Start with the one whose clues feel most familiar, and select an approachable stage and intensity.
A concrete number example
In the Number Grid screenshot below, one Story Tree is worth 100, two Relic Cups are worth 20, and three Raven Feathers are worth 3. Together they make 123. In Czech, that is sto dvacet tři. The screenshot shows English selected; choose Czech in your own game to practise the Czech answer.
For a smaller start, rehearse jedna, dva, tři (one, two, three) before working with larger quantities. Use the value key in your chosen stage rather than counting every object as one.
Try this short routine
- Prepare: spend a moment with the answers for one stage. Say them once at your own pace.
- Play: complete a round, responding to each clue out loud.
- Notice: remember one answer that took extra thought. Was the difficult part the clue, the word, or being heard?
- Return: after a pause, try the same stage again or use the word in a sentence outside the game.
You do not need a long session. Repeating a small set gives you a clear place to notice where you hesitate.
Keep speech recognition in perspective
The game uses Apple’s speech services to recognise answers. A result can be affected by permissions, background sound, the device and the selected language. It is not a detailed pronunciation assessment.
When an answer is missed, try a quieter setting and a clear, comfortable voice. Check the selected language and the support page before assuming the word itself was wrong.
Use it alongside your wider Czech practice
A course, teacher, conversation partner or reading habit can give you context and new language. A small speaking game gives you another reason to retrieve words you already recognise. Bring useful words back into real sentences and conversations.
